Russian President Vladimir Putin redrew Russia’s borders and declared the Crimean peninsula part of the motherland on Tuesday. Emotions were high among Russians and Western leaders, some calling Putin a threat to the world. On the same day that Crimea became a part of Russia, a Ukrainian serviceman was killed when armed men surrounded a military facility just hours after Putin’s speech. A news helicopter crashed Tuesday into the streets of Seattle, exploding into flames and killing two people aboard. The chopper crashed near Seattle’s Space Needle; it exploded into flames and spread clouds of black during rush hour. It was taking off from the KOMO-TV station when it fell onto several cars and spewed burning fuel down the street.
Ten days after Malaysia Airline Flight 370 disappeared with 239 people aboard, an international search has shown no sign of the Boeing 777 jet. The Thai military said it saw radar blips that might have been from the missing plane but failed to report it “because we did not pay attention to it.”
Mick Jagger posted a touching tribute on Facebook to his longtime companion, L’Wren Scott who was found dead Tuesday, calling her his “lover and best friend.” He also went on to praise her many talents and said he will never forget her.
