For a little something different to do in Kent this Saturday night, look no further than 157 Lounge. On April 4, it will become host to the City Street Fashion Show from 7 to 9 p.m.

The first ever City Street Fashion Show will take place this weekend to celebrate the one year anniversary of Dino Palmieri’s Rush, the hair salon in downtown Kent near Panini’s and Robeks. The fashion show will feature hairstyles by stylists from Rush, as well as accessories provided by Carnaby Street Style. Rush salon manager David Young said that one of the goals of the show was to bring together and celebrate local businesses.

“We wanted to put something together to show off a lot of the talent that [Rush has] and something to help promote us as well as other local businesses around here,” he said.

In addition to accessories from Carnaby and event space provided by 157, a number of local restaurants will donate food to the event. Young said that places including Georgio’s, Fresco and Dave’s Cosmic Subs will contribute.

Of course, the main event is the fashion show, which Young promises is an event for all to see.

“It’s kind of cool because everyone has their own different twist that they’re putting onto the show,” he said. “There’s going to be a lot of really cool, interesting talent that will be on these models.”

Besides the traditional fashion show fare with models walking around and displaying their new looks, Young said that a transformation will take place on stage for everyone to see. The transformation will feature a haircut going from long to a pixie cut, which the audience will be able to watch happen.

“It will be a complete transformation on stage,” he said.

Young and his team at Rush got the idea to celebrate the salon’s one year anniversary after watching the salon’s success grow in downtown Kent.

The group decided to do a hair show, and they decided to do it as big as possible, he said. Rush has previously worked with 157 Lounge on other events, including the Martinis and Manicures night, so Young said the trendy bar was the obvious choice for who the partner with. From there, Young said everything seemed to fall into place.

“It’s going to be a rocking night,” he said.

And, if that wasn’t enough to peak your interest, Young also said that there will be raffles throughout the night. However, all he would say about the night’s prizes is that there are “some really, really good ones.”

Young also acknowledged how well Rush has done in its short time in Kent, especially as he has had the chance to watch downtown Kent grow.

“It has been phenomenal,” he said. “To come up here from Columbus and see just how awesome Kent has grown. And to see how the salon has grown in a year has been incredible.”

The City Street Fashion show is free to all who are interested in attending and includes a cash bar in addition to the fashion show, snacks and raffle.
