Wild Finish in Louisville

Louisville, KY: The Flashes started out the game strong plating two in the first thanks to a Zarley Zalewski single to center.  That was all the offense the Flashes would provide but it looked like that was all they were going to need.

Kent State started Nick Jensen-Clagg was phenomenal on the day going 8.1 strong innings while only giving up 2 runs on 5 hits.  Jensen-Clagg was very efficient throwing 105 pitches throwing 71 of them for strikes.

Pitching finally gave into this infamous streaky hitting Wildcats team allowing the Cats to score 4 runs in the top of the 9th thanks in part to SEC Player of the Year A.J. Reed who singled to right center to start the late inning rally.

The Flashes came close to finishing the win though.  Relief pitcher John Fasola had a 3-2 count with two outs on Kentucky’s Tommy Bernal but Bernal turned around and plated two more to take the lead on a 2 RBI double to left and that was all she wrote for the Flashes.

#4 Kent State lost what happened to be their last game of the season 4-2 to the #2 Kentucky Wildcats.

Kentucky will take on the winner of the Louisville-Kansas game tomorrow at noon at Patterson Field in Louisville.
