Kent State University School of Library and Information Science and the Northeast Ohio Regional Library System have teamed up once again to host the thirteenth annual Summer Library Symposium.

This year’s symposium will take place Aug. 5 at the Kent State Student Center starting at 9 a.m. and will focus on nonfiction.

The symposium will have opening and closing keynote speakers – authors Steve Sheinkin and Julie Cummins – as well as several breakout sessions throughout the day.

Melissa Lattanzi, continuing education coordinator at Northeast Ohio Regional Library System, said in past years the symposium attracted mostly librarians, but all are welcome to attend.

“The breakout sessions are geared towards school and public libraries,” Lattanzi said. “In general, librarians just love to listen to authors and I believe there’s many librarians out there that want to be authors, so they really enjoy hearing about how the authors got started and kind of their process.”
