Annual Media Ethics Workshop planned for September

The ethics of data mining will be discussed at the 10th annual Poynter KSU Media Ethics Workshop on Thursday, Sept. 18 in the FirstEnergy Auditorium in Franklin Hall. The conference will begin at 9 a.m.

Jan Leach, associate professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, said that in the past, the workshop has brought media professionals together to discuss media ethics issues, including general ethics, online ethics and single topics like sports ethics. She said prospective speakers at the 2014 workshop would discuss big data ethics.

Leach is responsible for organizing the conference each year and said the workshop is live streamed to multiple websites as well as a conference on campus.

Registration information begins July 2, 2014 and is available through the Poynter KSU Media Ethics Workshop website.
