Wick Poetry Center hosts reading, Q&A with award-winning poet
The Wick Poetry Center is co-sponsoring a free poetry reading by award-winning poet Shara McCallum with the Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts Program (NEOMFA) Oct. 29 in 306 of the Kent Student Center at 7:30 p.m.
McCallum won the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize for Poetry for her work titled “The Water Between Us,” according to a university press release.
Jessica Jewell, the program manager of the Wick Poetry Center, said the center is thrilled to be able to offer this event to the Kent community.
“Shara McCallum is an accomplished poet and we’re so happy that we can bring her to Kent State for a poetry reading,” Jewell said. “McCallum works in myth and memory, and her poems represent the diverse voices and influences that have shaped her life and experiences.”
The center and NEOMFA will also host a poetry salon question-and-answer at the May Prentice House on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. for those who want to ask McCallum questions about her work.
