Retired KSU professor emeritus of English dies at 84
Thomas M. Davis, professor emeritus of English at Kent State, died Oct. 17, 2014.
Davis became a part of the Kent community in 1968 when he joined the English Department. He began doing grave rubbings in England and later began studying Western Literature, said Larry Andrews, a friend of Davis and dean emeritus of the Honors College.
“He was a great friend and mentor, and not just to his students, but to younger colleagues,” Andrews said. “He had a strong sense of justice; he was willing to fight for a good cause. He had a lot of enthusiasm and a wide range of interests.”
Davis’ memorial service will be held at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent on Friday, Oct. 24 at 2:30 p.m.
