Nick Cave, Visual Artist and Professor at the School of Art Institute of Chicago is coming to Kent State on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014.

“Up Close and Personal With Nick Cave,” is a part of the School of Arts, Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series.

Cave is best known for his work with Soundsuits; wearable sculptures that will tantalize the senses through various fabrics, sounds and movement.

“With the Soundsuits I hide gender, race and class, so you can view the work without judgment,” said Cave.

“ENCOUNTER: Nick Cave Three Video Installations” is currently being exhibited in the School of Art Gallery. The gallery features three different Soundsuits performances to watch.

On Thursday, students and faculty will hear Cave speak, as well as be able to meet and interact with him on a more personal level.

“I’m hoping he will energize students to think across disciplinary boundaries, when they think about their own art making and be open to all kinds of influences,” said Christine Havice, Director of the School of Art.
