The Fulbright Specialist Celebration and Lecture will feature former Fulbright Specialists from the College of Education, Health and Human Services who will speak about their experiences around the world on Friday, Nov. 21 in White Hall’s Read Center, Room 200 at 1 p.m.

The speakers will include Martha Merrill, Caven McLaughlin, Mark Kretovics and Martha Lash, who will speak about their time in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and South Africa.

The Fulbright Specialist Program awards grants to American scholars and professionals approved to join the “Specialist” roster, particularly those with disciplines to engage in short-term collaborative projects around the globe said, Annie Cima, a senior development and family studies major who works for the Office of Global Education. The Fulbright program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

“The Fulbright program provides opportunities for Americans to travel abroad and for foreign students to come to the U.S.,” Cima said.

Following the Fulbright Specialists lecture will be an informational session on how to apply to be a Fulbright student in the Read Center from 2 to 3 p.m.
