JMC names new Director of Student Media
The School of Journalism and Mass Communication selected its new Director of Student Media.
Thor Wasbotten, director of the school, said he made the announcement that Kevin Dilley, the student media outlet adviser at the University of Texas at Tyler, will be the new student media director on Friday, Jan. 16 at a monthly staff meeting.
Dilley, who starts his job June 15, has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s in visual communication from Ohio University. Dilley has previously worked as a web designer, visual design editor and trainer for a number of news organizations, including The Providence Journal in Rhode Island.
Dilley also serves as an officer and conference coordinator for the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association and consults with newspaper companies on development and design for user interfaces for digital and print publications.
Dilley will manage the Kent State’s Office of Student Media business and advising operations, including advertising, finance, marketing, contracts, personnel and legal operations. He will also supervise the Office of Student Media and work closely with the student leaders and advisers for each student media outlet.
Kent State’s student media outlets include nine units: A Magazine, Black Squirrel Radio, Fusion, KentWired, Luna Negra, TV2, The Burr, The Kent Stater and Uhuru.
