Opinion: Boko Haram still needs your help: And here’s how

Last week, I wrote a column on the fact of victims in Nigeria from Boko Haram needed just as much support as the other people in the world suffering right now. Thankfully, I got an email from a reader who wanted to extend their help in giving aid to refugees and other who were affected by Boko Haram.

There has been some change in the fight against the Nigerian Islamic State extremist group. More notably, this help came in the form of at least 7,500 troops from the African Union, even with the combined efforts of the US and Iran.

I’m glad this is happening but its still not enough. The damage they caused will be etched into the nation of Nigeria for generations to come, and the sooner we rid the land of these monsters, the sooner we can have the people of Nigeria get back on the road to recovery. Even now, some land is being won back, but it would have been better if we had done months ago.

This is in no part by the combined efforts of donations signing petitions and raising awareness, but we cannot rest yet.

The most horrible of acts they have done, as I’ve mentioned before, are the kidnappings of innocent young girls and abusing them in every conceivable way. This was the additional independent film by Black United Students talking about the kidnappings of more than 300 Nigerian women since October:

I will also link this to the Malala fund that helps all victims of the society that preys on the safety and power of those who need education most. Its founder Malala Yousafzai, who is a brave young education activist who didn’t even let a school banning, death threats and assassination attempts stop her from speaking up for the free rights of education to all, especially women, who continue to be the target for violent and militant hate-filled individuals and organizations.

I want everyone to remember that Boko Haram, as well as ISIS or ISIL or any other Muslim extremist group that uses people as human shields, rapes women and children, kidnaps innocent people and kill innocent people, they are not representing true Muslims in the least. No more than the KKK represents Christianity.

This is the worst they’ve done to the people, but it’s only a fraction of the rest of the atrocities that they committed as of late.

Pay attention, watch the news, and donate. They need your help and if anything, your attention. Because if they had your attention, your undivided attention, you wouldn’t be able to sleep at night without helping stop this.

More needs to be done, and if there still is no more new change to this effort to help Nigeria from an awful fate like this, then I’ll keep writing about Nigeria until someone can hear me and help too.
