After starting Mid-American Conference play with a 6-1 record, Kent State (15-7, 6-3 MAC) has now lost its last two games, both losses coming on the road.

The score was tight for the majority of the game, but Western Michigan (14-8, 5-4 MAC) was able to pull out a 67-66 win.

The Flashes were without leading scorer and rebounder Jimmy Hall, who was out with mononucleosis.

“Tonight we played without arguably the best player in the conference,” coach Rob Senderoff said of Hall’s absence. “Sometimes, things just don’t go your way.”

Redshirt senior guard Derek Jackson led the way for Kent State with 20 points, including five three-pointers. Senior guard Devereaux Manley added 18.

Sophomore Tucker Haymond led Western Michigan with 17 points, and senior David Brown and junior Connar Tava both netted 16.

Kent State will return to the MACC to take on the Miami Redhawks (8-14, 3-6 MAC) on Saturday at 7 p.m.
