Haffner and Matthews both recieve MAC volleyball player of the week honors
For the second consecutive week, two Kent State players received Mid-American Conference East Division volleyball player of the week honors.
Junior setter Alex Haffner repeated as setter of the week and sophomore outside hitter Savannah Matthews was awarded offensive player of the week for the Flashes’ victories Thursday and Friday against Buffalo.
Haffner recorded 33 assists on Thursday and 29 on Friday to lead the KSU offense to a .333 hitting percentage. She ranks fifth in the country and first in the MAC in assists per set at 12.46. Her performance this season has guided the Flashes to a conference leading .300 hitting percentage.
Matthews posted a career-best .520 hitting percentage on Thursday along with 16 kills. She added 12 on Friday. She averaged a hitting percentage of .408 coupled with an average kills per set of 4.67 against the Bulls. She is ranked 22nd in the country in kills per set with 4.54.
