CCI CareerExpo2015 to be held Friday

The Journalism and Mass Communication Office of Career Services will host the CCI CareerExpo2015 on Friday, March 6 from 1-4 p.m.

It will be held in the Global Center for Health Innovation at the Cleveland Convention Center. Free transportation will be provided. Buses will begin leaving Franklin Hall at 11:30 a.m. and return between 3:30 and 4 p.m.

The expo is an opportunity for juniors, seniors and graduate students in the College of Communication and Information to network with employers from over 30 businesses and organizations surrounding northeast Ohio, said John Butte, JMC coordinator of Career Services.

Dix Communications, The Plain Dealer, Cleveland Magazine, Crain’s Cleveland Business and Akron Life Magazine are some of the businesses that will be in attendance. Various television stations, public relations and marketing firms from Cleveland will also be there.

“There’s a record number of students registered for the expo this year,” Butte said. “It’s almost double the number of students who registered last year. The companies have increased by a third, and the number of student registries has doubled, so this promises to be a pretty big event this year.”

Butte said that about 150 students are expected to participate.

Students attending the event are encouraged to wear business attire and prepare a dozen copies of their resume. Butte also suggests that students provide a biography statement that explains their career objective.
