BUS accepting applications for the 2015-16 school year

Black United Students (BUS) is accepting applicants for its executive board and aims to fill ten positions, including president, vice president, director of programming, executive secretary and treasurer.

Applications can be submitted in the main office inside Oscar Ritchie Hall, and the deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on April 1.

Matthew Thompson, current president of BUS, spoke about the application process and search for successors.

“We’re really trying to find people who will grow within student leadership and who have leadership experience,” Thompson said. “We want people who are hungry and ready to work, as well as provide a platform for themselves and other students in BUS.”

An elections commission will oversee the process and candidate interviews will be conducted Sunday, April 5. Candidates will then be given the opportunity to voice their agenda in front of their peers.

Voting is scheduled for April 9 and 10. The winning candidates will then be sworn in, along with the passing of the gavel, at the 39th Annual Ebony Achievement Awards on Sunday, April 19.
