Kent Reads event to host Michael Roden
The Wick Poetry Corner on the second floor of the University Library will host a Kent Reads event with author Michael Roden on April 22 from 3 to 4 p.m.
Roden will discuss his book, “The Enlightened Christian: A Psychological Interpretation of the Bible,” which details Christian theory, said Mary Lovin, administrative assistant at the University Library. His other works cover religion, psychology, literature, philosophy and more.
Lovin said they usually get about 20 to 30 people to attend these events, but they would like to have more.
“We do a lot of advertising with Twitter and Facebook,” Lovin said. “We really try to get the word out, but it is really difficult to compete for students’ time because everyone is so busy.”
Lovin said that each speaker’s topic varies from event to event.
“Everyone is different. Some of the authors read part of their book,” Lovin said when describing the different speakers. “I like the variety of speakers, their topics are really interesting.”
Light refreshments will be available for those who attend.
