Throwback Thursday: Women Students Enrol (sic) In Training Program (April 9, 1946)

Women have again joined the men in the university’s flight program to make one more phase of education co-educational. Six of the 41 students enrolled in actual flight courses are women, five of whom are veterans. The flying coeds are Margarette S. Brown, Ann E. Gray, Helen P. Johns, Alice M. Simmons, Rosemary Smith and Lois M. Stevenson. Due to limitations in instructional facilities, it was necessary for eliminations to be made in the total enrolment (sic). Akron Airways is now furnishing the university with five cubs, the type used in naval flight training, and three instructors.
