Kent State students enrolled in this semester’s Black Images course will screen their final project “Being Black At Kent State” Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Oscar Ritchie Hall.

The course, offered in the Department of Pan-African Studies, allowed students to collaboratively choose and execute their final project.

“It’s a comedy-based short film discussing the rules of racism here at Kent State,” freshman athletic training major Iniah Dunbar said. “There will also be a panel discussion held directly after the first showing to discuss the more serious side of the video.”

Dunbar is also a student that is enrolled in this class.

“This film is also to show that you can even bring attention to or raise awareness by making people laugh. It’s just another way to provoke the mind,” Dunbar said.

An additional screening will be showed at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1.

There will be an opportunity for viewers to make donations for the next semester’s Black Images trip to Michigan. During this trip, the students dig deeper into the cultural effects of or on African-Americans and visit museums such as the Motown Museum and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit.
