Kent State bookstore closed this week

People gather in the University Bookstore in the Student Center for their “Spring Blowout Sale” on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. The bookstore closed Saturday, May 9, and will reopen Monday, May 18.

The Kent State bookstore will be closed this week as it transitions textbook vendors from Follett Higher Education Group to Barnes and Noble College.

All eight Kent State campuses will use Barnes and Noble as their bookstore vendors, but the Kent, Trumbull and Geauga campuses will transition first.

The Board of Trustees approved the change in March, deciding Barnes and Noble College better suited the needs of the university and provided the best value at about $12 million for a six-year contract and $1.8 million each year the contract is renewed. Barnes and Noble replaces current vendor Follett Higher Education Group and eFollet.com, its online affiliate.

The bookstore closed Saturday, May 9, and will reopen Monday, May 18 at 8 a.m., allowing students to pick up online textbook orders.

Students can access the bookstore this week using its online store.
