PARTA bus stop added on campus

This semesters new bus stop addition located in front of Franklin Hall

Parking Services and the Office of the University Architect implemented a new covered bus stop in front of Franklin Hall this semester in addition to the three added last fall.

“We noticed from our staff that there were a lot of people waiting out in inclement  weather,” said Michael Bruder, the director of design and construction. “We wanted to provide a covered stop in that area.”

The other three stops added last fall are located at Moulton Hall, Van Campen Hall and Tri-Towers, Bruder said.

“There is an annual budget that is allocated towards those improvements,” Bruder said. “We just kind of prioritize those based on the changes in population and the routes that Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority (PARTA) runs.”

Adding a new covered stop provides benefits to those who rely on PARTA for transportation.

“It’s certainly going to help for people taking the bus when the colder weather hits and if it is raining out,” Bruder said. “They’ll have an easier place to congregate before the bus gets there.”
