Rinehart earns MAC honor, field hockey prepares for OU
Kent State field hockey team’s junior goalkeeper Andrea Rinehart earned her second MAC defensive player of the week after last weekend’s performance against Miami and American University.
Rinehart recorded her second shutout of the season Friday as the Flashes (5-8, 3-1) held on to beat MAC-rival Miami, 1-0.
“I can’t do it without my team,” Rinehart said. “It’s always nice to have no goals under my name and it helps that my team is helping me.”
The Flashes hope to continue their win-streak at home as they look to take on the Ohio University Bobcats Friday.
The last time Kent State faced Ohio, the Flashes defeated the Bobcats 2-0 to win the MAC Championship and move on to Nationals.
The Flashes are set to take on the Bobcats at 1 p.m. on Friday at Murphy-Mellis Field.
