Kent voters approve all three renewal levies
Kent voters approved three city renewal levies in Tuesday’s election.
Issue 33, which passed with 75.54 percent of the vote, is a 0.73 mill renewal levy that will generate $248,000 in revenue in the next five years starting in 2016 for the funding of the city’s West Side Fire Station, including staffing, operating and maintenance. The levy passing means the current level of services will be maintained.
Issue 34, which passed with 76.76 percent of the vote, is a 1 mill renewal levy that will generate $340,000 on an annual basis starting this year. The renewal levy will be used to continue the current level of maintenance and operation of the the Park and Recreation Department.
Issue 35, which passed with 74.51 percent of the votes, is a 0.43 mill renewal levy that will generate $146,000 in revenue on an annual basis starting this year. The issue is in conjunction with Issue 34 and will also provide funding for the Park and Recreation Department.
