Pi Kappa Alpha to host Cycle for Life

Pi Kappa Alpha will be hosting their Cycle for Life philanthropy to raise money for blood cancer research on Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Kent State Recreation Wellness Center.

“We have the Greek community come together for a competition-based event,” said Tyler Verma, philanthropy chairman of Pi Kappa Alpha. “The sororities compete with the sororities (and) the fraternities compete with the fraternities. Each time slot is $10 dollars.”

Greek life members and non-Greek life members are welcome to attend the Cycle for Life event.

“The sororities will be on and off the bike every ten minutes due to their chapter size,” Verma said. “Everyone else will be on and off every twenty minutes.”

The event will be fast paced and fun with a goal to outdo last year’s total of $4,077.

After last year’s event, Verma said the fraternity received a national award for raising the most money per member out of all the other participating chapters.

The event is a stationary bike marathon logging miles biked, attendance, and fundraising, said Verma.
