I Heart Travel Week” starts off Monday at 5 p.m. at the ballroom in the Kent Student Center.

Sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Office of Global Education, and hosted by the International Programs and Education Abroad Office, I Heart Travel Week’s goal is for students to experience new cultures and celebrate globalization.

“It’s the ideal opportunity for people to interact with international students and having a chance to know what if feels like to study abroad without actually studying abroad,” said Bruno Beidacki, communication specialist at the Study Abroad Office.

I Heart Travel Week will have a number of events going on at The CUE (the Center for Undergraduate Excellence) located between Olson Hall and Lake Hall.

Events at The CUE will begin on Tuesday and run through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. with different countries being focused on each day. Countries from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South America and Africa will be focused on.  

Along with information given by international students from these countries, there will be free international food for students to try and experience cultural diversity.

“One of the main things we’re striving for is not only experience but for them to have a preview of the country,” Beidacki said.

From 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. there will be a “fun event” on Tuesday through Thursday.

The events include a self-defense demonstration and workshop at the CUE provided by Martial Arts Ohio, the Venetian Carnivale Masquerade Ball on Ice, (which will be held at the ice arena) and Latin Dance Night at the CUE.

Each night of I Heart Travel Week there will be a raffle at 8:30 where students can win a Study Abroad scholarship of $1,000.
