Performing Arts Library to host open mic lunch
The Performing Arts Library will host an open mic lunch from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, in room D-004.
Performances are open to anyone, according to Joe Clark, head of the performing arts library and associate professor. Clark said the trick to getting a spot to perform is to come early.
“We’ve had in the past people doing poetry, stand-up comedy, beat box with their mouth, singer-songwriters,” Clark said. “We had a girl play a song on a CD, but then sign it, which was very moving.”
Clark said he does know of three possible performers for Friday’s event, but it makes it entertaining not knowing what kind of performers there will be.
Clark offered advice for anyone who may want to perform, but is intimidated.
He said to first come see what it’s like, then come back for the next one on Friday, April 1, 2016.
“It is a very supportive atmosphere,” Clark said. “We want to see people succeed and share their talents with the community.”
