Rough winds and rain held the Flashes in sixth place after the second round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande. The team has a sixth player competing individually.

The five Flashes competing in team play ended their second round nine-over-par with 297 strokes. Junior Maddy Mullins ended her second round of individual play four over.

Wad Phaewchimplee finished her second round shooting and holds fifth place on the individual leaderboard going into the final round.  Amira Alexander shot one-over to tie for 32nd.  Taylor Kim is also tied for 32nd place after shooting 4-over par.

Michaela Finn is tied for 42nd after shooting seven-over. Josée Doyon shot five-over, and Mullins finished four-over Monday.

“All of them are hitting the ball well enough to come in with a good score,” coach Greg Robertson said. “That is, if they show up ready to compete.”

The Flashes are only two strokes behind the Northwestern University Wildcats and will be paired them, Louisville University and Texas Christian University.

“I don’t think they played their best golf,” Robertson said. “They’re still in position for a good finish if they play solid tomorrow.”
