Whenever someone mentions the Quicken Loans Arena, most individuals would associate the venue with the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Lake Erie Monsters.

But now more recently, The Q is gaining recognition as one of the popular stops for entertainment both nationally and globally.

The Quicken Loans Arena recently ranked at No.33 in the Pollstar’s 2015 list of “Top 200 Arena Venues” in terms of ticket sales worldwide.

This also meant that The Q beat out other prominent cities such as Boston, Houston and Philadelphia for it’s placing.

According to a press release from the Quicken Loans Arena, the venue’s rankings have been on a steady rise over the past year, giving credence to Cleveland and Quicken Loans Arena’s status as one of the most active arenas in the world and a primary destination for major concert tours.

Along with being the home of various sport franchises, the Q has been a popular stop for artists, with concerts such as Justin Bieber, Maroon 5 and Janet Jackson having upcoming dates at the arena.

Hallie Yavitch, Senior Director of Events, stated that the Quicken Loans Arena management was very pleased with the arena’s ranking and looks forward to growing its reputation among the global community.

Yavitch said that she attributes the popularity of the venue to their ability to stay up to date with maintenance.

“We want our fans to think of Quicken Loans Arena as ‘home’, and just like any home owner, we know that we need to make sure the house is clean and safe before we would invite anyone in to visit,” Yavitch said.

When asked about whether the Cleveland Cavilers had any role in increasing the Q’s ranking among other venues, Yavitch stated that although the Pollstar ranking is based on non-sporting events, the fans that visit the Q become aware of other upcoming events at the Q, and that this helps to sell more tickets.

Christen Hubbard, a freshman biology major, feels that it’s great that Cleveland has such a highly regarded venue.

“It makes the city look better having such a popular venue,” Hubbard said.

Nina Patterson, a freshman psychology major, has attended the Q for a Jonas Brothers’ concert and feels that the venue lives up to its ranking.

“It makes me feel good that it got such a high rating and hopefully it makes more artists come (to) Cleveland,” Patterson said.

The Quicken Loans Arena will also be hosting the Republican National Convention this July 18-21, which will be one of the biggest events the venue has ever hosted.

The Republican National Convention (RNC) will be huge for the city of Cleveland. It’s the second largest media event in the world, and speaks to the fact that our venue is capable of handling any event in the world,” McElhateen said. “We are confident that everyone in the region will reap a benefit from the tens of thousands of people visiting and broadcasting from Cleveland for the RNC.”
