Kent State CDC to hold annual rummage sale
The Child Development Center (CDC) of Kent State will hold its annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday to raise money for the center’s programs.
“We email all of the families (at the CDC) asking for donations and there’s no limitations,” said Adonia Porto, one of the coordinators of the event as well as a curriculum and instructor graduate student. “So it’s furniture, household goods, and because we’re a school, we naturally get a lot of children’s items—so clothes and toys and shoes. Then we reserve a storage unit and … offer once-a-month drop-off times, and then collect it from January until now.”
Proceeds from the sale go toward helping fund the CDC and aiding the community.
“All of the money goes to the FC (family connection),” Porto said. “They help us raise money for things such as The Backpack Program, which is helping families and children that have food insecurities .. Also, they’ll help us purchase things such as outdoor equipment.”
The sale will be held at the Child Development Center, located at 775 Loop Road in Kent.
