Alumni and students offered professional development help through weekly “Career Coffee Talks”

Jody Patterson, associate director of Career Education and Development, presents the agenda for the Feb. 3 “Finding Opportunities” Career Coffee Talk.

The Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement has partnered with Career Exploration and Development to bring Kent State alumni a series of events to help them gain skills for their future careers.

Career Coffee Talks are meant to connect alumni to the university and its students while providing career advice. The series covers career topics such as navigating change, finding job opportunities, negotiating job offers and creating a network.

The 30-minute webinars will be held virtually on Wednesday afternoons at noon every week. Each event will feature a presentation and Q&A. Alumni and students can view a list of upcoming events and register for Career Coffee Talks on the Kent State alumni website.

At the “Finding Opportunities” Coffee Talk held on Feb. 3, Associate Director of Advancement Events Taylor Ratell said they were “extremely excited” to present the series and hoped it would help participants to “navigate the current employment landscape.”

In the upcoming Career Coffee Talk session on Feb. 10, Kristin Williams and Michelle Adkins from Career Exploration and Development will offer guidance on how to create resumes and cover letters that showcase experience and are easily updatable.
