Kent State’s School of Theatre and Dance and students in the musical theatre program will begin the student dance festival, “We16htless,” starting this Friday with performances taking place in the Black Box Theatre, located in the university’s Performing Arts Center.
The event will run through Sunday and feature dances choreographed by 11 juniors and five seniors in the theatre program. According to the website, there will also be a restaging of “Monkey Brains and Paper Chains” performed by five choreographers along with two more graduating seniors.
The website also said the dance forms in the concert will range from modern to jazz and are reflections of the individual students’ experiences.
The concert will be split into two programs with each having two performances a piece. Program A will run at 8 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Program B will run at 8 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Tickets are free to Kent State students and can be purchased online at http://www.kent.edu/theatredance, or in person at the Performing Arts Box Office, located in the Roe Green Center lobby of the Performing Arts Center.
