Annual ONPA Contest and Judging Seminar returns to Kent
The 65th annual Ohio News Photographers Association (ONPA) Contest Judging and Seminar will be held on Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24 in Franklin Hall, room 340.
The ONPA Contest Judging and Seminar is a three day conference with professional photographers including Tim Broekema, a professor of Western Kentucky University; Melissa Lyttle, an Independent Visual Journalist based in Florida; Jake May, a Chief Photojournalist for The Flint Journal and Damian Strohmeyer, an Explorer of Light Canon.
The ONPA is a non-profit organization that has brought together professional newspaper, magazine and television photographers to advance the profession.
Recently, Kent State placed fifth nationwide in the photojournalism category of the William Randolph Hearst Foundation’s Journalism Awards program.
This fifth-place finish marks the fourth year in a row Kent State’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication has finished among the top 10 nationwide for photojournalism.
Admission for this weekend conference is completely free.
