Former Kent State baseball pitcher Eric Lauer was recently named consensus First Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Lauer is the second player to be named a consensus All-American in the program’s history. He joins John Van Benschoten, who received the honor in 2001, according to a June 20 Kent State Athletics news release.

This latest achievement adds to a long list of achievements for the pitcher’s decorated career, as Lauer was recently named Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I Player of the Year.

Earlier this month, he was also selected 25th overall in the 2016 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres.
