Ohio Gov. John Kasich is one of the most recognizable politicians with the least amount of attention at the Republican National Convention—and that’s not by mistake. 

Kasich has still not endorsed the now-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump for president since Kasich dropped out of the presidential race in May. That fact did not change when he spoke to a room full of supporters at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Tuesday afternoon.

“I asked for this to be done so I could have one more opportunity to thank all of you for your work,” Kasich said. “The one thing I can tell you is, the things you did to help me, I did as a young kid. I know what it’s like and I know what it takes and I can’t thank you enough for what you’ve done.”

After thanking his supporters, he didn’t speak about the RNC or any plans to help his party gain more influence. Instead he spoke about wanting to better himself so he can help the American people.

“Americans want to feel like they matter … like someone cares about them … that the people standing next to them are going to be there for them whether they know them or they don’t,” Kasich said. “It’s about connecting hearts and lives again in United States of America and everyone having the chance to be successful.”
