Football trails Alabama 41-0 at halftime
#1 Alabama is proving to everyone why they are the number one team in the country, as they are up on Kent State 41-0 at halftime.
Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts made his presence known in the first half, he threw for 121 yards and ran for 45 yards and a touchdown before being replaced by Blake Barnett halfway through the second quarter. Barnett was 3-5 for 54 yards and a touchdown in the first half.
Kent State’s offense has not been able to muster much against Alabama’s swarming defense. Freshman Justin Rankin has rushed for 50 yards, almost all of which came on a 47 yard run, which was the Flashes first play from scrimmage. Quarterback Mylik Mitchell was 2-7 for 10 yards before leaving with what looked like a hand injury.
Joshua Jacobs has led Alabama on the ground, rushing for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Jacobs is getting most of the work in backfield due to Damien Harris sustaining an injury in the first half. Harris came into today’s game with 347 rushing yards, which leads the Crimson Tide.
Special team’s hurt the Flashes all half. Shane Hynes missed a 37 yard field goal, Kavious Price muffed a kickoff which led to a six yard return, and Xavian Marks topped it all off when he took a punt 75 yards for a touchdown for the Crimson Tide.
Alabama recorded 352 yards and 18 first downs in the first half, while Kent could only muster 53 yards and two first downs.
