Volleyball loses third straight road game to Ohio
Kent State volleyball (9-9, 2-3 Mid-American Conference) dropped its game Thursday against conference opponent Ohio University (8-9,4-1), winning only one set for the night.
This is the third straight road loss for the Flashes. The team faced Miami University and Bowling Green State University preceding Thursday’s game, losing both.
The Flashes lost the first set 21-25, but turned around and picked up the next set, winning 25-21.
The third set was hard fought by the Flashes, but they would ultimately lose the set 22-25. Kent State continued to lose in the fourth set 16-25, giving Ohio the victory for the night.
Junior Kelsey Bittinger — who leads the team in kills on the season— led the Flashes in both kills and digs in the contest. Senior Drew Norberg added a match-high seven blocks.
Kent State is 25-51 all-time after facing the Bobcats. Last year the two teams split the regular season, and Ohio won the post-season match-up in the semi-finals of the M.A.C. tournament.
Kent State’s next match-up is at home against Central Michigan University on Saturday for the ‘Dig For The Cure’ game.
