Homicide suspect arrested for Ravenna murders
An Akron man has been arrested for the murder of two individuals fatally shot in a Ravenna home in November.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 25-year-old David Darnell Calhoun, Jr., in a news release Saturday. Calhoun faces three charges of aggravated murder.
Calhoun was reportedly arrested around 1 a.m., WKBN First News 27 reported from a source of the U.S. Marshall Service. The Service, along with the Steubenville Police Department, assisted in Calhoun’s capture at a Steubenville home.
Prior to his arrest, Calhoun was last seen fleeing the scene of a Ravenna Township home, where 33-year-old LeShaun Sanders was found shot to death.
The second victim, Sarah Marsh, 32, was transported to a local hospital, where she died. The sheriff’s department later confirmed Marsh was 10 weeks pregnant.
Calhoun previously served a five-year sentence for armed robbery, according to court records. He was released last April.
Calhoun is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail and will be transported back to Portage County.
A press conference is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. in the Portage County Sheriff’s Office in Ravenna.
