Alumni Association announces date for Homecoming 2017
Kent State University Alumni Association (KSUAA) announced homecoming will be held Oct. 14, 2017. The Flashes play Miami University RedHawks for the annual homecoming football game.
“The coolest thing about homecoming is regardless if you’re 18 years old or if you’re 98 years old, it’s the one thing that hasn’t really changed at Kent State because it’s a tradition,” Joy Wesoloski, director of Alumni Relations and Outreach, said.
Over 41,000 alumni, students and faculty celebrated Homecoming 2016, according to the KSUAA website.
Wesoloski said she would like to see more involvement across the university, even if it means wearing blue and gold every day of homecoming week.
“We’re encouraging student organizations or groups or clubs that haven’t really done anything during homecoming week to maybe host an event or show their spirit in some way,” Wesoloski said.
Homecoming 2016 included 77 university events, such as the Kiss on the K, Bowman Cup 5k and a homecoming parade. In 2017, students and alumni can expect events for the entire week.
Those who wish to host an event can register with the KSUAA, and they will help distribute the information.
Students can apply for Homecoming Court until April 10.
