Wrestling earns nation’s fourth highest GPA

The Kent State wrestling team was honored for its members’ work in the classroom Wednesday, as the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced that the team earned the fourth highest GPA in the nation.

The Flashes recorded a 3.423 cumulative GPA, which is now the highest academic ranking in program history. This is also the fourth straight year the team has been in the NWCA Top 20.

NWCA named junior Anthony Tutolo as a member of the All-Academic Team for his GPA of 3.6 in communication studies. Tutolo won 19 matches this past season and earned an automatic qualifying spot to the NCAA championships.

The three teams ahead of the Flashes were Harvard (3.586), Brown (3.475) and American (3.466). Five Mid-American Conference schools finished in the Top 20.
