Every summer the cleveland area experiences a surge of concerts, and the Alternative Press Music Awards and Vans Warped Tour are no exception. Both bring music enthusiasts of all ages together in big crowds of sweaty concert goers all jumping around as they scream along to the chorus of their favorite songs.

The APMAs are back in Cleveland on Mon., July 17 at Quicken Loans Arena for the third year in its four years of existence. The awards are hosted by Alternative Press Magazine, a music scene magazine based out of Cleveland.

The music awards will be following APMAs Fan Day, which is a series of free performances by various nominated artists, on Sun., July 16 at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The annual Vans Warped Tour date on Tuesday, July 18 at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls will follow the awards.

APMAs Fan Day, July 16

To kick the week off, the APMAs is hosting a free concert open to the public at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame from 1 to 7 p.m. featuring 2017 APMAs nominees and 2016 Best Breakthrough Band award winners State Champs, Broadside along with Islander, Carousel Kings and Sleep On It.

The day also features various panels, including the “LGBTQ In Music” panel with Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace and pioneering transgender metal vocalist Mina Caputo of Life Of Agony, with more panelists to be announced.

Laura Jane Grace will also be signing copies of her book, Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout, which was named as one of Billboard’s “100 Greatest Music Books of All Time.”

 Alternative Press Music Awards, July 17

The fourth annual Alternative Press Music Awards hosted by Alternative Press Magazine will start at 4 p.m. with the red carpet event that’s open to the public.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m., but for fans that can’t be there, the entire show will be streamed on Amazon Music.

The awards will be hosted by Black Veil Brides frontman Andy Biersack and feature performances by All Time Low, KORN, Against Me!, Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce The Veil, The Pretty Reckless, Machine Gun Kelly, New Years Day, Andrew McMahon, One OK Rock and Bone Thugs.

Award categories include Best Bassist, Guitarist, Drummer, Vocalist, Live Band, Underground Band and many more.

The awards show will be capped off with a special APMAs EMO NITE LA after party at Mahall’s in Lakewood, Ohio, from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. featuring music and artists from the awards. This event is open to all ages and tickets can be found here.

Vans Warped Tour, July 18

The take over continues when the Vans Warped Tour makes its annual stop in Cuyahoga Falls, one of the two Ohio show dates. The outdoor festival is made up of nearly 80 artists and bands from various genres ranging from metal to indie. This year bands include punk bands like War on Women, Barb Wire Dolls and Anti-Flag. In addition to plenty of hardcore and metalcore groups like Being As An Ocean, Silverstein and Bad Omens.

Some big names dominating this year’s show are bands like Beartooth, Hawthorne Heights, Neck Deep and Memphis May Fire. While some bands new to the tour include Our Last Night, The Waves and Knocked Loose.
