Flashes finish second at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

The Kent State women’s golf team placed second in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship Tuesday.

The team finished -3 through three rounds, falling short of Illinois, who finished -4.

Junior Michaela Finn led the Flashes with a score of -3, tying four other players for seventh place along with sophomore Karoline Stormo.

Other Flashes who placed in the tournament include freshman Kory Nielsen (-2), who tied for 12th place, and sophomore Pimnipa Panthong, who tied for 16th.

Sophomore Marissa Kirkwood (+12) tied for 56th, and junior Kelly Nielsen (+13) tied for 62nd competing as an individual.

The Flashes finished second on pars 3 and 4, then finished first on par 5s with an average of 4.73 and a score of -20. They tallied 165 pars and 53 birdies.

Wake Forest’s Emilia Migliaccio finished first overall with a score of -10.

The Flashes will be back in action Oct. 9 at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas.
