Kent State receives over $360,000 from state for safety upgrades
State Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) released the budget for fire safety upgrade renovations for four buildings on campus Monday, including plans for a $360,000 state funded renovation to Rockwell Hall.
The funds will go toward upgrading Rockwell Hall’s alarm system.
Emily Vincent, the director of university media relations, said this renovation is one of four updates planned for facilities on campus.
The total of all four system upgrades is $900,000.
“All were included to improve safety and reliability of outdated systems with current technology,” Vincent said. “Rockwell Hall in particular is important because of the Kent State University Museum’s collection that holds many valuable artifacts.”
The three other buildings that are a part of the submitted plan are the Stockdale Building, which has already been completed, the Buisness Administration Building and the Administrative Services Building, which are planned for next year.
