Delta Zeta to host annual Lip Sync philanthropy event

Members of Alpha Tau Omega participate in 2017 Lip Sync event.

Delta Zeta will be holding their annual “Lip Sync,” philanthropy event in support of the Starkey Hearing Foundation and Gallaudet University. The event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation is committed to providing the gift of hearing by providing at least one million hearing aids to those in need within this decade.

Gallaudet University is a private institution that provides higher education to the deaf and hard of hearing community. All proceeds from the event will be donated on behalf of Delta Zeta at Kent State University.

“This philanthropy means that all across the world people can be given the gift of hearing,” said Lizzie Hallabrin, Delta Zeta Lip Sync chair. “We, as Delta Zeta’s, are changing the world for the better each and every day.”

At the event, each participating Greek organization will have the opportunity to perform a six minute skit that includes, but is not limited to, dance, sign language and lip syncing. Each organization will be judged by panelists in hopes to win the title for best overall performance.

The St. Augustine signing choir will be attending to perform songs in American Sign Language. All students, in Greek life or not, are encouraged to attend the event and raise awareness for the charities.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased this week on the second floor of the Kent State student center from members of Delta Zeta. Tickets are likely to be sold out before the event and will not be sold at the door.
