The Kent State University Museum will hold its opening reception for “Fashion Meets the Body: Juried KSU Faculty Exhibition” in the museum on Oct. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The designs displayed are two and three-dimensional pieces, created with technology and mixed media.

Co-curators Linda Ohrn-McDaniel, the faculty director of the TechStyleLAB — which supports research and learning on digital design and production technologies in fashion — and Kim Hahn, the Fashion School’s interim director, will lead the tour of the exhibit for attendees.

The designs featured in the display are individual and collaborative works of Kent State faculty.

Two jurors from the Carnegie Museum of Art, Rachel Delphia and Margaret Powell, will be also be in attendance.

“I was one of two jurors, and (we) were the ones to go through 100 or so entries to judge and decide which pieces entered the show,” said Powell, a decorative arts historian from Pittsburgh.

The exhibit has been open since Sept. 28 and will remain open until Sept. 1 of next year.

Guests will be treated to a wine and appetizer social, along with a tour of the museum on Tuesday evening. The event is free and open to the public.
