Still no suspects in Pebblebrook shooting; victim in intensive care
No suspects have been named in the Pebblebrook Apartments shooting in Franklin Township on Sunday, said Portage County Sheriff Major Larry Limbert.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched at 7:42 p.m. on Sunday in response to a 911 call reporting a gunshot.
“Two males were (seen) in the parking area with one male running from the scene holding a handgun,” the press release said.
23-year-old Jermaine Justice Jr. suffered a gunshot wound to his back-shoulder area. Justice was a resident of the apartment complex.
Justice was transported to UH Portage Medical Center, and later by helicopter to the University Hospital main campus in Cleveland. Justice is in the intensive care unit currently, Limbert said.
“The victim is still in the hospital — he’s in intensive care at University Hospitals in Cleveland,” Limbert said.
The sheriff’s office has not yet received results from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
“We are still working on the investigation,” Limbert said. “We’re following up on some leads, but that’s as far as we are right now.”
