The Kent State women’s golf team, who is fresh off a 15-under second place finish at the UCF Challenge, is preparing for another solid performance at the upcoming Lady Puerto Rico Classic.

Coach Greg Robertson believes the team can put up another performance like the one it had at the UCF Challenge and their depth is a big reason why.

“We feel we can play with anyone in the country,” Robertson said. “We have a deep team.”

The Flashes’ depth was evident their last time out, as six Flashes shot under par at UCF. The Flashes will not only be playing on different grass, but the humidity in Puerto Rico will also be a factor. The grass in Bermuda is bumpy and slower, while the weather will be low 80s with relatively high humidity.

“We are going to see a big swing,” Robertson said. “It’s more hot and humid and the grass is different.”

The Flashes have plenty of positives heading into Puerto Rico on both a personal and team level. Junior Karoline Stormo turned in another solid performance, shooting a 10 under with a 5 under (67) final round, which was tied for the lowest score in that round.

The Flashes also beat eight ranked teams in No. 27 Miami, No. 37 Kennesaw State, No. 29 Purdue, No. 30 Michigan State, No. 39 Penn State, No. 36 College of Charleston, No. 49 SMU and No. 18 Illinois. 

The Lady Puerto Rico classic starts on Sunday and will go until Tuesday.
