Kent Roosevelt High School’s DECA students hosted over a thousand people at Touch-A-Truck.
DECA, an international organization, focuses on preparing students for careers in marketing, entrepreneurship and finance. Kent Roosevelt’s chapter hosted Sunday’s family-friendly event as a part of their career development project.
“We really want kids to be comfortable with the idea of a career,” said Ozzy Herbruck, one of the three senior project managers. “…Because even at a young age, if you see a vehicle like a cool firetruck or a police car, and you think that’s interesting, that’s going to light a spark in your brain…and maybe think that you want to be a police officer in the future.”
Lined up down the street, 21 organizations and companies brought vehicles for the public to explore, from a cement truck, to cranes, a University Hospitals Helicopter and excavators.
