In game 162 of the 2025 season, the Cleveland Guardians walked off the Texas Rangers when Rangers LHP Robert Garcia hit Cleveland’s 1B/OF CJ Kayfus on a bases-loaded, 0-1 count with two outs left in the bottom of the ninth.
This moves Cleveland to 87-74 on the year, and moves them into the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
Cleveland originally took the lead in the bottom of the first on a Johnathan Rodriguez two-run home run. Texas countered on a home run of its own to tie the game, with the solo shot coming off the bat of OF Adolis Garcia in the top of the fourth inning.
The Rangers and Guardians will play again today in Cleveland at 3:10 p.m. Should the Guardians win and the Detroit Tigers lose to the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt will have won his second division title in as many seasons.
