Charlie Kirk, 31, founder of right-wing conservative Turning Point USA, was shot and assassinated on Sept. 10, 2025.
The assassination made ripples across social media platforms, with both sides of the political spectrum in disarray.
Representative Nancy Mace, R-SC, made comments on the social media platform X, saying, “Time to bring back the death penalty.” On Sept. 10, 2025, around 8:29 p.m., when the alleged killer was still at large. On Sept. 12, after finding out the killer was not transgender or a member of any marginalized groups, she remarked on X, “Charlie Kirk would want us to pray for such an evil and lost individual like Tyler Robinson to find Jesus Christ. We will try to do the same.”
Nancy Mace has multiple videos of her saying a slur localized to transgender individuals. Despite her unprofessionalism, she remains as the Republican Representative for the first congressional district in South Carolina. Mace is an example of the rampant hate speech and corruption at hand.
Laura Loomer, investigative journalist and conspiracy theorist, also made hateful remarks on the social media platform X. In the current probe against Ilhan Omar, D-MN, a Muslim-Somali American, Loomer said, “Why do we even have Muslims in Congress? What a stain on our country.” Loomer has been influential in the second Trump presidency, calling for the firing of disloyal officials.
The New York Times reported that she influenced the firing of more than half a dozen national security officials. Loomer is also notorious for being Islamophobic and a white nationalist. *White Nationalists have publicly hated Jewish Americans. Loomer is proudly Jewish.
Loomer plays an incredible role in the growing fascist regime changes that Donald Trump has been slowly growing into, as she repeatedly engages in hate speech.
Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative organization that targets college students, is a known podcaster and social media personality, and has made many distasteful comments to his vast network.
Wired Magazine reported his remarks on the Civil Rights movement. Kirk had taken the stage at America Fest, “MLK was awful. He’s not a good person. He said one good thing he didn’t actually believe,” he continues, “I have a very, very radical view on this, but I can defend it, and I’ve thought about it,” Kirk said at America Fest. “We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s.” Kirk claims that Civil Rights movement was just permanent Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Bureaucracy.
The movement gave colored Americans the same opportunities as their white counterparts.
Kirk, on a separate occasion, had heard of the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift engagement. He encouraged Taylor Swift to “reject feminism. Submit to your husband, Taylor. You’re not in charge.” He was later accused of being misogynistic. His wife now runs Turning Point USA as CEO and Chair of the Board, despite his misogynistic comments about submission to husbands.
“It’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights … That is a prudent deal,” Kirk made these remarks while at Salt Lake City campus’ Awaken Church on April 5, 2023. According to Johns Hopkins, 46,728 people have died in gun-related violence in 2023; there were 38 school shootings that year.
Kirk’s frightening hate speech has resulted in very radicalized, violent individuals: people who believe that women should submit to their husbands, that Civil Rights is another attempt at DEI, and that children should be martyred to save gun rights.
When Kirk was assassinated, the members of the Republican Party and its representatives sent their condolences and support to the Kirk family. Voters who voted red also showed their gratitude for Kirk’s legacy.
The other side of the spectrum, not so much.
People who align themselves with liberal values majorly criticized Kirk’s legacy, specifically Jimmy Kimmel, The Tonight Show’s loyal host for over 20 years, who was pulled off the air for his free speech. Kimmel said, “The ‘MAGA Gang’ was desperately trying to portray this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything but one of them,” as a response to the growing Republican pressure that the shooter was liberal-left. Many online conspiracists claim that the shooter was a part of the “groyper” movement, a far alt-right movement that particularly disliked Kirk’s deviation from their ideologies. Nick Fuentes leads this movement.
Fox News, during an interview with President Trump, mentioned how Charlie had said there is no such thing as hate speech. Trump’s response was, “He may not be saying that now.”
Jimmy Kimmel is not the only one to be silenced for using his free speech.
Now, former full-time columnist for The Washington Post, Karen Attiah, was fired for posting a quote that Kirk had said: “Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person’s slot.” This was met with controversy from the right wing, leading to her termination.
From the less mainstream side of the media, NBC News reported that at least two faculty members from East Tennessee State University participated in the social media brigade. One of the faculty members made the statement, “You reap what you sow.”
They were terminated.
At least a dozen educators around the U.S. have been terminated or put on leave for any comments made about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
While looking at the number of people being terminated from their jobs in the name of hate speech, I find an alarming trend.
What happens when professors and other members of faculty speak on social media—an opinion that in reality is not being discussed or debated with anyone else in a classroom setting? They are fired and forced into silence.
“Hate speech does not exist legally in America. There’s ugly speech. There’s gross speech. There’s evil speech. And ALL of it is protected by the First Amendment. Keep America free.” – Charlie Kirk
Our state, which protects freedom of speech, is advocating for the firing and prosecution of those who speak against the grain. This is a fascist agenda.
The MAGA Wagon is leaving the station— get on, or get silenced.
