Kent State launches new orientation program
Kent State launched their 2021 Destination Kent State (DKS) freshman orientation. Over 25 sessions will be spread throughout June and early July.
DKS consists of a mandatory virtual event for the incoming freshman class as well as a new optional in-person segment. They will be guided through these sessions by their Flashguides, who are there during every session to help new students make an easy transition into college life.
“The required part of DKS is virtual, but we wanted to give students and their parents and their families and support systems an opportunity to come on campus if they already didn’t,” Angelique Daniels, associate director of Kent’s Student Success Programs said. “At one point tours were cancelled due to the pandemic and high school students weren’t able to tour our campus.”
There are four more dates for incoming students to attend campus connections including June 16, 17, 21 and 29. These are limited capacity and are optional. Students can register for their campus connection date on the Kent State website.
