81.5% of college students snack while studying, according to a recent survey from Mometrix.
Joshua Barnett, from Mometrix, a test preparation company, recently conducted a survey on what treats college students eat on while preparing for their next exam.
Due to the variety of customer ages who use their materials, he surveyed students as young as 13 up to graduate students. Barnett said Mometrix was inspired to conduct this survey to get feedback from their customers’ study habits.
“I think that we are always interested in how our customers are using test prep material, and what are some of the things that they do to get through those long hours of studying for their exams,” Barnett said.
To conduct the survey, he put together a series of questions and sent an email to several of their newsletter subscribers.
“I’ve never conducted a survey before, so it was a fun thing to learn how to do,” he said.
The survey was mainly about gathering information that was “interesting or entertaining” as a fun way to interact with the people who use their courses, Barnett said.
“For our customers to explore and to see how other people are studying and find ways to relate to each other,” he said.
The graphic showed that 29.7% of students prefer snacks that are sweet, salty and healthy. The graphic also showed that 65% of students do not care if other people hear them chewing.
Barnett said he would be interested in conducting future surveys related to other test preparation habits, such as the type of music they listen to and where they go to review for tests.
“We really care about how people interact with the material and what they are doing to make it as interesting and fun for themselves as they use it,” he said.
